A Dhamma discussion based on the question…
“I am struggling to control my anger in certain circumstances. I am able to control most of the time, however when certain situations arise in the family sometimes it becomes hard and I lose my temper. Despite my efforts in meditation, I feel like I have made little progress in this aspect of reducing anger.
I would like some practical advice on how can I train my mind to remain calm and not let anger persuade me in difficult family circumstances. Thank You Venerable for your guidance 🙏🏼…
Regarding this, I was under the impression that “metta bhavana” is enough to uproot anger, but recently I came across Ven. Ajahn Dtun’s video where he says that “Metta doesn’t uproot anger completely, it only provides a foundation. Only when we let go of all the attachments to the body is when anger is completely uprooted.”
